Running for Durbin’s Senate seat, Rep. Krishnamoorthi visits Rockford to blast Trump’s tariffs

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Illinois Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D) visited Rockford to decry President Trump’s tariff plans, as part of his campaign for Sen. Dick Durbin’s open U.S. Senate seat.

Krishnamoorthi visited Milescraft, 1540 New Milford School Rd, which designs power tool accessories and woodworking tools, and imports all of its products from overseas.

The company’s CEO said the Trump administration’s blanket tariffs have forced them to pass extra costs to their customers, lay off workers, and pause an expansion to their warehouse.

“While we absolutely need to fight economic aggression, and we want to attract manufacturing back to America, we can’t hurt the economy and working families in the process, which is what’s happening right now,” Krishnamoorthi said.

He has represented the state’s 8th Congressional District on Capitol Hill since 2017, an area that covers most of the northwest suburbs.
