This year, Mike is one of the “Faces of Cancer” for the 32nd annual Cancer Survivors’ Celebration Walk & 5K hosted by Lurie Cancer Center and Northwestern Medicine.
For more than three decades the event has been a source of hope and inspiration for survivors and those battling cancer.
In total, the walk route is about three miles, but participants are encouraged to enjoy the lakefront at their own pace.
The event, which also features a dedication wall, music and speakers, is taking place at Arvey Field in Grant Park on National Cancer Survivors Day, Sunday, June, 1.
The event gets underway at 8 a.m. Sunday, with runners set to step off at 9:15 a.m. and walkers at 10 a.m.
Advanced registration for the event is required and pre-event pricing will end on May 31.
