At around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, a blue 1998 Toyota vehicle, driven by 54-year-old William Rabe Jr., was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 near Private Road 125 East. The vehicle reportedly crossed into the centerline of the road into the path of a Buick, driven by a 36-year-old North Vernon man.
The two vehicles reportedly collided in the eastbound lane of U.S. 50. Rabe was pronounced dead on the scene by the Jennings County Coroner’s Office and the other involved man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Officials said the investigation by the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police is ongoing. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in this incident. Investigators were assisted by the following agencies:
