DeKalb police seize firearm from suspect in teen shooting

DEKALB, Ill. (WTVO) — Police have apprehended Darvionte Fultz, 28, after he reportedly was involved in a brawl that ended with a 17-year-old shot.

According to DeKalb Police, Fultz was involved in a fight between multiple combatants on Wednesday in the 800 block of Russell Road.

Fultz drew a weapon and shot the teen, police said.

He then hid in a neighboring apartment until officers arrived and were able to remove him from the residence.

A search of the apartment turned up a loaded firearm and other potential evidence from the crime scene, police said.

Fultz was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
