USC-Aiken baseball names Keith Gorman as new head coach

AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) — The USC-Aiken baseball program has a new coach.

Pacers athletic director Todd Wilkinson announced the hiring of former Barton College and Cumberland County College coach Keith Gorman as its new program leader Wednesday morning.

“We’re excited to bring coach Gorman on board,” Wilkinson said. He is a proven leader with a championship pedigree, a deep understanding of the game and a commitment to building a winning culture. His record speaks volumes about his ability to lead student-athletes to success on and off the field.”

Gorman built a powerhouse program at Cumberland, compiling a record of 316-91 during his time there. He also helped turn around a struggling program at Barton, producing new school records for wins in a season and victories over a three-year span.

But Wilkinson says his excitement for bring Gorman on board is bigger than just wins and losses.

“What stood out about Keith was not just his winning record, but his holistic approach to coaching,” Wilkinson said. “He develops players into leaders, emphasizes academic success and understands the value of community engagement.”

He’ll be tasked with rebuilding a Pacer program that struggled to a sub-.500 (23-29) record this past season in former head coach Michael Holder’s final year with the team.
