Paducah man claims he was stabbed over lawn-mowing argument

PADUCAH, Ky. (FOX 56) — A man claimed he was stabbed on Monday in Paducah after rocks and grass were thrown on his vehicle by his neighbor while mowing.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office said it was called on May 26 to an area hospital about a reported stabbing.

Deputies said they spoke with Gilbert Brammer, who claimed he was stabbed by his neighbor, Charles “Rob” Anderson, according to an arrest citation.

Court documents noted that Anderson was mowing his lawn around 4 p.m., and Brammer told law enforcement that Anderson had been throwing grass and rocks all over his vehicle.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

Anderson reportedly pulled out his knife when Brammer stepped into the street, the arrest citation said. Both proceeded to yell at each other when Brammer said Anderson swung the knife at him, hitting him in the cheek and the nose.

Deputies said Brammer claimed he continued getting hit by the butt of the knife before he and Anderson began punching each other. As the fight continued, the two men were taken to the ground, where Anderson allegedly stabbed Brammer in the side.

According to the citation, a neighbor intervened to break up the fight, and Brammer’s girlfriend drove him to the emergency room.

The sheriff’s office made contact with Anderson at his trailer, who had a visible facial injury, and he decided he needed to go to the emergency room, court records show. While at the ER, detectives spoke with Anderson, who confirmed the two had fought. He claimed Brammer knocked him out, and when he regained consciousness, he stabbed Brammer in the side.

Anderson told detectives that he put his knife away before the fight started, contradicting Brammer’s account.

The knife was collected at the scene and placed in evidence, according to the citation.

The sheriff’s office said Anderson was arrested just before 7 p.m. and booked into the McCracken County Jail on a second-degree assault charge. Records show he is being held on a $20,000 cash bond.
