According to the Boyd County Coroner’s Office, the crash happened Monday in a field along the 16000 block of State Route 854. Coroner Mark Hammond said men were on the UTV, and one of them was thrown out of it during the rollover.
Hammond says one of the men, identified as Robert “Robbie” McCalvin, 49, of Catlettsburg, died at the scene. The second man was flown to a trauma center in Huntington for his injuries. There is no word on his condition at this time.
The Boyd County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating what caused the crash. Along with the BCSO, the Eastfork and Norton Branch fire departments, Boyd County EMS, Boyd County Emergency Management and Kentucky State Police all responded, Hammond says.
