The Northlake Police Department said just before 10:45 a.m. Sunday, May 25, officers were sent to the King Arthur Court apartment complex for reports of an unconscious woman who was not breathing. When officers arrived, they found the woman – identified as 43-year-old Elizabeth Peralta-Guadalupe – severely beaten with no signs of life. Paramedics later arrived and pronounced Peralta-Guadalupe dead.
Detectives interviewed everyone in the apartment at the time of Peralta-Guadalupe’s death. Several family members were interviewed and released, but two people of interest were held for further questioning, according to investigators.
Police said early Tuesday morning, one of the two remaining people in custody was reclassified as a witness and released without charges, leaving 20-year-old Larry Dorado as the remaining suspect.
Based on physical evidence, interviews with witnesses and autopsy results, detectives concluded Dorado, Peralta-Guadalupe’s son, beat his mother to death while inside his apartment.
Dorado has been charged with first-degree murder and has a pre-trial detention hearing set for Wednesday morning.
