Chicago police say 34-year-old Rayvon Savary, an Auburn Gresham resident, has been charged with one felony count of aggravated discharge of a firearm and one felony count of aggravated unlawful possession of a loaded weapon.
The charges were handed down following a shooting that allegedly unfolded around 8 a.m. at the Monroe CTA Red Line station on Monday morning.
Authorities say Savary allegedly entered a restricted underground area at a Red Line station in the Loop on Monday and fired shots upward through a sidewalk grate at two men who were walking above.
Authorities arrived on the scene about an hour after the incident and took Savary into custody.
Officers said nobody was struck by gunfire during the incident and it is unclear what led to the shooting.
In addition to the felony charges, Savary was also cited for three CTA misconduct violations.
Savary will appear in court on Wednesday for a detention hearing.
