KRON4 Meteorologist Gayle Ong forecasts that the region could warm up significantly by midweek. Inland areas cloud see temperatures in the mid-80s by Thursday and temperatures in the 90s by Friday, weather models show.
“There is a high chance of above normal temperatures on Friday and Saturday for our inland cities but that is still far out,” Ong said.
The warmest temperatures are likely to hit the region Friday, with heat in the mid-to-upper 90s in areas like Livermore, Concord and Antioch. Other Bay Area cities could see temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s, while coastal areas are forecast to stay in the 60s.
The National Weather Service warns that the rising temperatures bring a moderate heat risk to the region.
“A warming trend is expected through the week with [a] moderate heat risk forecast in the interior towards the end of the week,” the NWS said. “Make sure to stay hydrated, limit time in the sun, and never leave anyone in [an] unattended vehicle.”
