(KRON) — A gastropub in San Francisco’s Marina District officially shut down this week after 16 years. Tipsy Pig’s last day was on Sunday, May 25, the establishment announced on social media.

Tipsy Pig, located at 2231 Chestnut Street, has been a stop for many Marina District barhoppers through the years. Since opening in 2009, it was among the sequence of bars that gave the neighborhood exuberance on plenty of Friday and Saturday nights.

“We’re really proud of the Tipsy Pig and are grateful for the support we’ve received from our amazing community,” Tipsy Pig wrote in an Instagram post. “Each meal shared, every celebration held, and all the friendships formed have made Tipsy Pig a special place in our hearts.”

In its farewell message, Tipsy Pig also hinted at possibly reopening at a different location.

“While this chapter is coming to an end, we are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead,” Tipsy Pig continued. “Stay tuned for updates on our future endeavors at 2231 Chestnut, and thank you for being a part of our story. We hope to see you again soon!”

As of now, Tipsy Pig has not made plans for relocation public. The business did not mention a reason as to why it decided to close.

Fans of Tipsy Pig were saddened by the news — some bringing up their favorite memories at the gastropub. “This is so sad! My husband and I met here,” one person wrote in the comments section of the farewell Instagram post.

A couple even remembered doing their engagement photoshoot at Tipsy Pig. “So sad, my wife and I did our engagement photoshoot here. Such great memories,” the husband wrote.

“I am so sad! We moved into the Marina in 2010, a few months after you opened. You will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for all the memories,” another person recalled.

The establishment also hosted a number of Bay Area sports watch parties — including the San Francisco Giants’ historic 2010 World Series run.

“Many a good memories but best was when Giants clinched on a sunday in 2010 and whole team plus families took over the back patio. Fast forward 30-45 days and there’s your world series champs. End of an era,” a Tipsy Pig patron said.
