Man airlifted to hospital, 3 others injured in two-vehicle crash near Palisades

SWAN VALLEY – A man was rushed to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Swan Valley Saturday afternoon.

It happened at 2:38 p.m. at milepost 386 on U.S. Highway 26, according to a news release from Idaho State Police. It involved four people, including the driver of a black GMC Yukon and three people in a semi-truck.

The driver of the Yukon, a 46-year-old man from Farmington, Utah, was reportedly headed west on Highway 26. The unnamed driver collided with the semi-truck after crossing the center line.

Driving the semi-truck was a 44-year-old man from Idaho Falls. Two passengers were with him, a 52-year-old woman, also from Idaho Falls, and a 4-year-old kid.

Although everyone involved was wearing their seatbelt, the collision did cause some injuries. Everyone in the semi walked away with minor injuries. The driver of the Yukon was airlifted to a local hospital. His condition is unknown, as of Sunday morning.

The crash led to significant traffic delays. Highway 26 was closed for three hours while emergency crews were on scene and was still closed, as of 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Swan Valley Fire Department helped out with the response, along with the Idaho Transportation Department.

Authorities are still investigating the crash.
