Man found dead after large gas leak in Gresham home

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was found dead after officials say a large gas leak in a Gresham home prompted nearby evacuations and response from emergency crews late Saturday afternoon.

Just after 4:30 p.m., Gresham Fire department responded to reports of a gas leak at a home in the 3600 block of Northeast 6th Terrace.

When they arrived, officials said they noticed a strong gas smell coming from the house and evacuated neighboring homes.

NW Natural was also called to the scene to assist in securing the gas service.

Once gas levels in the house decreased, authorities said firefighters entered and found a man dead in the home.

Officials say the cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
