Fire crews responded to the area of Highway 180, east of Frankwood Avenue, in Fresno County, just after 8:30 p.m. on Friday for a body in a canal.
Upon arrival, firefighters report finding a vehicle fully submerged in the canal. Preliminary investigation determined a vehicle was driving eastbound on Highway 180 when, for unknown reasons, it veered off the roadway, went through a fence on the dirt shoulder, and ended up in the canal, which was full of water.
Cal Fire says the vehicle was submerged in the water for a while. The Water Rescue team responded to the scene and assisted in the man’s body recovery. He was in his mid-20s.
This is an ongoing investigation. The identity of the victim has not been revealed.
