CHICAGO — An 88-year-old woman died after she was hit by a car that had crashed into another vehicle Saturday evening in Garfield Ridge on the city’s Southwest Side.

According to Chicago police, the 88-year-old female pedestrian was hit around 5:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Archer Avenue by a silver sedan that police say was going east on S. Archer Ave. when its driver tried to make a left turn and was struck by a gray sedan that was going west.

The silver sedan then hit the 88-year-woman, who was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Police say the driver of the silver sedan, a 26-year-old man, and a passenger were not injured and refused medical attention. The driver of the gray sedan, a 63-year-old man, and a passenger were also not injured and refused medical attention, according to police.
