The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said authorities responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Indian Mound and Winchester Road.
An arrest citation alleges that 28-year-old Erica McColgan disregarded a traffic control device, hitting another vehicle in the intersection. According to the citation, the other car had at least two other people in it. One person died, and a 1-year-old child was taken to the pediatric ICU at the University of Kentucky Hospital for a head injury.
On Friday, the sheriff’s office said evidence was presented to the Montgomery County Grand Jury which returned an indictment.
McColgan has been indicted on charges of murder, first-degree assault, first-offense failure of owner to maintain required insurance, and third-degree assault of a healthcare provider.
