LG adds appliances to Kia concept cars

LG has added some appliance pizzazz to Kia’s cars of the future.

The two Korean companies have partnered on the auto maker’s new Platform Beyond Vehicles (PBVs), to create what they describe as “a distinctive mobility space experience.”

The goal, they said, is to transform everyday transportation into a seamless and convenient lifestyle extension.

To that end, LG has integrated a selection of appliances into two Kia concept cars. The Spielraum Glow, designed for camping, tailgating and other recreational pursuits, features an optimized LG refrigerator, Lightwave oven and wine cooler. The Spielraum Studio, conceived for road warriors, offers LG’s Styler steam closet, a smart mirror and a coffee machine.

At the heart of the Spielraum cars is LG’s AI-powered ThinQ ON hub, which controls the on-board appliances, enables interactive conversations and can connect to external services including food delivery, laundry and restaurant reservations.

“We are excited and proud to bring our advanced AI space solutions to the PBV mobility market through this collaboration with Kia,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company. “This collaboration provides an important opportunity to expand LG Electronics’ AI Space Solution, serving as a stepping stone to create new AI-powered lifestyle experiences beyond the home, across mobility and other everyday spaces.”

The concept cars debuted at last month’s 2025 Seoul Mobility Show in Ilsan, Korea.
