Former St. Paul’s star, Kade Anderson, was electric with eight strikeouts in the first three innings of action.
He would finish with twelve strikeouts and leave the game after surrendering four hits and three earned runs in six innings of play.
LSU led 4-3 when Anderson exited the game courtesy of an Ethan Frey RBI double and a Luis Hernandez RBI in the bottom of the first. Frey would add a two-run home run in the bottom of the third to give LSU a four-run cushion.
The Aggies responded with two runs in the fourth and a sacrifice fly from Jace LaViolette in the top of the sixth to make it a one-run game.
The most interesting move of the night was Jay Johnson throwing the Tigers’ second-best arm in relief of Anderson in the top of the seventh.
Anthony Eyanson inherited a 4-3 ball game and eliminated any hopes of a Texas A&M comeback with four strikeouts in the final three innings of play.
LSU’s top two pitchers end the Aggies’ season and advance the Tigers to the SEC Tournament semi-final round for the second year in a row.
LSU will face Ole Miss Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
