Woman shot by deputies after they returned fire while trying to arrest her in Douglas County


A woman is hospitalized in critical condition after she was shot by deputies when they returned fire after she shot at them when they were trying to arrest her Wednesday evening in Douglas County. According to a Facebook post by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the woman fired several shots at the two deputies, but they were not injured. The deputies had gone to her residence to arrest her on felony warrants. The woman’s name has not been released.




The deputies have been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation which is being conducted by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.

Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase thanked the Ava Police Department for handling calls while the Sheriff’s Office was working the shooting.
