SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — A Slidell traffic stop and chase ends in a man’s arrest, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On May 14, Narcotics Unit agents pulled over 38-year-old Antwine Smith at the corner of West End Boulevard and Lakeshore Marina Drive. Agents said during the stop Smith lied about his identity.
A search of his vehicle led to the discovery of:
In an attempt to arrest Smith, he allegedly ran away leading detective on a short pursuit through business parking lots. He was arrested soon after.
A check of his prior criminal history revealed Smith was on probation following a conviction in Orleans Parish for possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs.
A search of his home led detectives to reportedly find additional marijuana packaged for sale and counterfeit ecstasy pills containing methamphetamine.
Smith has been booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on charges of:
