At around 9:05 a.m. on Wednesday, Fremont police officers and the Fremont Fire Department responded to a collision involving an unoccupied, parked semi-truck trailer near Fremont Boulevard and Decoto Road.
Arriving officials determined the driver was deceased at the scene.
Authorities determined the driver was speeding southbound in the northbound lanes of Fremont Boulevard and subsequently slammed into a parked and detached semi-truck trailer on the east shoulder of northbound Fremont Boulevard.
The driver, who has not yet been identified, was the sole person involved in the crash. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this investigation, according to authorities.
This death is Fremont’s fourth fatal traffic collision of the year.
