Pennsylvania street violinist hospitalized after being attacked by multiple people

ERIE, Pa. (WJET) — A young man in one part of Pennsylvania had been playing his violin for the public and police say he was brutally attacked in broad daylight.

It happened Tuesday at about 3 p.m. on the corner of 9th and Peach Streets in Erie.

When police responded, the 23-year-old victim was on the ground receiving medical attention.

Deputy Chief Rick Lorah said the violinist had been assaulted by five or six people after a disagreement on an EMTA bus.

Lorah said the victim was punched and kicked multiple times by his assailants.

“It’s very concerning anytime a crowd of people, multiple people attack someone downtown in the city, so it’s something that we take very seriously and something that’s being investigated, and if we find out who these individuals are, they will be charged,” said Lorah.

Lorah said police believe the assailants were teenagers.
