Officers say the deadly shooting unfolded just after 8 a.m. in the 3800 block of West Augusta Boulevard in Humboldt Park.
According to police, the victim, a 45-year-old man, was walking near the street in the area when he was approached by an unknown individual on foot who then pulled out a gun and opened fire.
Officers said amid the shooting, a vehicle pulled up, and a second person got out and began shooting at the victim as well.
Following the shooting, offices said both perpetrators got into the vehicle and fled the scene southbound along North Hamlin Avenue.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed and it is unclear what led to the shooting.
