ISP trooper injured in crash involving wrong-way driver in south suburbs
MARKHAM, Ill. (WGN) — A crash involving a wrong-way driver along an on-ramp to Interstate 57 in the south suburbs on Thursday left an Illinois State Police trooper injured.

According to ISP, the crash unfolded in Markham as the trooper was getting onto I-57 near 159th Street.

Officials said the trooper’s vehicle was struck by a driver who was traveling the wrong way along the ramp, leaving both cars badly damaged.

Authorities said the trooper involved was injured and taken to the hospital, though the extent of their injuries is unclear.

Troopers have not provided an update on the condition of the other individual involved or said what led to the crash.

An investigation into the crash is now underway.
