Court documents show that Special Judge Eddy Coleman signed an order granting Michael McKinney III’s motion for a speedy trial, with a date set to begin proceedings at 9 a.m. on Dec. 1 at the Pike County Judicial Center.
A pretrial conference has been set for July 24. The prosecution and defense have through July 15 to appoint their experts in the case.
In the trial date order, Judge Coleman wrote that no demonstrations for any parties or interest groups would be allowed within 25 feet of the Pike Circuit Courtroom. Demonstrators also won’t be allowed to disrupt the trial in any way, such as encouraging passing drivers to honk their horns.
Security guards at the judicial center will also not allow anyone wearing clothes that show support for any parties involved in the case.
