Somerset community mourns tornado victim ‘taken home by the angels’

SOMERSET, Ky. (FOX 56) — Pulaski County community members are mourning the loss of the woman who died during a devastating tornado that touched down in Pulaski County in the late hours of May 16.

Pulaski Funeral Home staff shared on Wednesday that Melodie Rose Prather Godby, 69, passed on May 17. She was a loving Christian who wanted her life to reflect servitude to the Lord and her family.

Funeral services will be held for Godby at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, at the Science Hill Church of the Nazarene, with a celebration of life to follow at 1 p.m.

Funeral organizers said Godby’s family asked that the community give offerings of love to the Mt. Victory Fire Department’s first responders for all the work they did to help in the wake of the tornadoes and their aftermath.

More information about Godby’s funeral arrangements can be found at the Pulaski Funeral Home website.
