Roy police officers placed on leave amid Snowbird sexual assault investigation

SNOWBIRD, Utah (ABC4) — Four police officers with the Roy Police Department have been placed on administrative leave after an incident involving possible sexual assault at Snowbird Resort.

According to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a medical emergency at Snowbird Resort on May 14. The incident is currently being investigated as a possible sexual assault.

Roy Police Department confirmed Tuesday that the officers were placed on leave immediately after being made aware of the allegations. The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office said that three of the four are being investigated.

“The officers and the agency are cooperating with the investigation. If the investigation determines any violation, it’s something we take seriously, and they would be held accountable,” a Roy Police Department spokesperson told ABC4.com.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office, which is leading the investigation, confirmed the two incidents to be the same case.

This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as new information becomes available.
