Riverdale stabbing victim’s ex-husband speaks on her murder, domestic violence

RIVERDALE, Utah (ABC4) — Christopher Scott, the ex-husband of Stacy Nicole Scott, who was stabbed to death in a Riverdale apartment on Thursday, has spoken out regarding the incident.

Stacy Nicole Scott was stabbed to death in a Riverdale apartment on May 15 by her boyfriend, Scott Thomas Myers, 39, who has since been charged with first-degree murder. Myers allegedly fled the scene before officers broke into the apartment, confirming Stacy Nicole Scott deceased with multiple stab wounds.

Stacy’s ex-husband, Christopher, spoke with ABC4 regarding the matter.

Christopher said they both worked hard to overcome addiction — Stacy graduated from Odyssey House, a rehabilitation organization with a center located in Salt Lake City.

“No matter where she was at in her life, whether she was in her addiction or whatnot, she always wanted to help out,” Christopher said. “She graduated Odyssey House. She was a big help in Odyssey House. She had many friends that was in Odyssey House with her. She’s always had a big heart and always just would give everybody … a helping hand if she could.”

Christopher went on to say that they originally met when he was in treatment nearby to Stacy, when she had attended Blue Skies — a treatment center in Ogden. He said they became great friends and married only three months after meeting. A year later, they had a son.

“When I first met her, she always kept me on time, kept me focused on the things I needed to do, the things that mattered,” Christopher said. “Ultimately, just was there and very supportive. Like, made sure everything was paid, made sure everything was taken care of.”

“Even though we didn’t work in a relationship, she was always going to be my best friend,” he said.

Christopher said he was in disbelief when he found out she had been killed.

“As soon as I found out, I called my wife and told my wife, and I just started going, digging through everything and to find out what happened,” Christopher said. “… A lot of us out here, our biggest thing is we want to know what led to it. How did this person just automatically do this to somebody that somebody loved?”

“Domestic violence and stuff like that, it hurts everybody,” Christopher said. “…The community has reached out and the community is hurt by this whole situation, and it’s just unbelievable. It’s sad.”

He went on to say that domestic violence, or violence of any kind for that matter, is just not acceptable. He wants to send the message that if someone is in a situation where domestic violence is taking place, or they feel at all in danger, they need to get help, to get away.

“I would like people that are in a domestic violence situation, or something like that, to get help, get away. Or the people have gone through and have gone away, I want them to take and use this as something to motivate them, to keep them away from somebody,” Christopher said. “…I want them to use this as something to empower them and to help them.”

Family and friends held a candlelight vigil for Stacy on Saturday, May 17, outside of the apartment complex where she was killed.
