“We really believe it is going to be our most fun summer yet because our fleet is bigger than it has ever been and that means we will welcome more guests than we ever had before,” said Matt Lupoli, Carnival spokesperson.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, Carnival Cruise lines expects nearly 2 million guests across its fleet and New Orleans is bringing in big business.
“In New Orleans specifically we sail about 80,000 guests,” said Lupoli. “In this busy summer travel season, we are expecting in New Orleans for our guests to generate an economic impact of about $30 million dollars.”
Two ships, the “Valor” and “Liberty,” which are both homeported in New Orleans, will see enhancements.
The “Valor” is getting a new bar called “Heroes,” paying tribute to veterans.
“A gathering place celebrating active-duty veterans. Carnival serves more military personnel than any other cruise line,” Lupoli said.
Guests cruising out of New Orleans will also get a new experience this summer.
“Carnival Liberty will be visiting Celebration Key, which is Carnival’s new exclusive destination in the Bahamas,” Lupoli said.
With about 400,000 cruisers traveling out of New Orleans on Carnival every year, New Orleanians are always looking for a new adventure.
“When we think about this busy holiday travel season, we are excited that so many people are choosing to spend their hard-earned time to vacation with us,” Lupoli said.
