Written from press release

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — May 21, 2025

A man reported missing in January has been confirmed dead after his body was discovered in a van in the same Bloomington neighborhood where he was last seen, according to the Monroe County Coroner’s Office.

The deceased man, identified as 37-year-old Andrew Reed, was reported missing on January 24, 2025, from his residence in the 2900 block of South Pinewood Lane. Despite several searches conducted by local law enforcement in and around the area, Reed remained missing for nearly two months.

On March 20, 2025, the Monroe County Coroner’s Office was notified after a body was found inside a van parked on South Pinewood Lane. Preliminary information at the time indicated the deceased may have been Reed.

DNA testing has since positively confirmed the identity of the man as Andrew Reed, the Coroner’s Office announced in an update Wednesday. The coroner has ruled Reed’s death as accidental, caused by a drug overdose.

Further details regarding the specific substances involved have not been released, pending the completion of toxicology reports.

The investigation into Reed’s death has been closed with the release of the coroner’s findings.
