Brookhaven appoints interim police chief

BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (WJTV) – The Brookhaven Board of Aldermen appointed an acting interim police chief.

At the Regular Meeting on May 20, a motion was made and approved by a unanimous vote of the Board to appoint Randy Belcher as Acting Interim Chief of Police, effective immediately upon the expiration of the current incumbent chief’s term.

The Daily Leader reported Chief Kenneth Collins is retiring at the end of his current term at 11:59 p.m. June 30.

The incoming Board of Aldermen will take office on July 1, 2025. They will be able to consider the appointment of a permanent police chief, as well as the provisions of that appointment, at a later date.
