Woman arrested in DUI crash into home in Fresno, officials say
FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A woman was hospitalized after crashing into a home, causing thousands of dollars in damage, the Fresno Fire Department said.

Firefighters, along with the Fresno Police Department and the Search and Rescue team, responded to a crash in the area of the 3600 block of Beechwood Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle versus home traffic collision.

Upon arrival, crews say they found an SUV that had hit a home’s garage. The vehicle’s wheels were still spinning, and smoke was coming out of the vehicle, but there was no fire.

Fresno Police and Fire say a 45-year-old woman driving an SUV exited the office complex south of the home, drove over the center divide, and hit the home’s garage.

The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment. Fresno Police says she was arrested under suspicion of DUI.

Crews say the homeowner was in the home with her dog at the time of the crash, but she was sitting in the living room, so she did not report any injuries.

Because of the severe damage, Fresno Fire says the Search and Rescue team responded to the scene to assess and stabilize the structure so the homeowner can report the damage to her insurance. Pictures of the scene also show that the crash damaged one of the vehicles inside the garage.

Crews say the estimated cost of the damage is about $50,000.
