MARRERO, La. (WGNO) — The Louisiana State Police announced the arrest of a state representative following a crash in Jefferson Parish on Wednesday, May 21.
According to troopers, at 2:30 a.m., they were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 90 B near Ames Boulevard. Upon arrival, troopers arrested the driver, State Rep. Kyle M. Green, Jr.
The investigation revealed Green was headed west on the highway in a Honda Accord when he reportedly ran off the road crashing into a concrete barrier. Troopers say, in the car with him, were his three children.
Responding LSP troopers said they noticed signs of impairment and conducted “a series of standardized field sobriety tests.”

The children were not injured in the crash and have since been released to a family member.
“Impaired driving, whether from alcohol, drugs, or both, is dangerous and can have deadly consequences. Avoid driving impaired and never get into a vehicle with an impaired driver. Always ensure passengers are properly restrained and stay focused on the road. Making responsible choices can save lives,” said LSP Troop B.
