Local Mister Ed mural completed in Adams County

ORRTANNA, ADAMS Co. (WHTM) — In March, abc27 previously reported on hundreds of people helping paint a giant mural honoring 50 years of Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium in Orrtanna.

After two months, the 28-foot mural was officially hung on the store’s outside wall.

The mural honors founders “Mister Ed” and Pat Gowalt and was led by the business’s third-generation owners.

“I added the details and the corrections and things like that,” said Michael Allison, the mural’s creator. “For about a month or two, I spent basically seven days a week working on finishing the mural, and here it is!”

The store officially opened on February 26, 1975.
