Kristin Chenoweth to perform at Jefferson Parish Bicentennial Ball

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Celebrating Jefferson Parish’s 200th anniversary, singer and actress Kristin Chenoweth will headline Jefferson Parish’s Bicentennial Ball on June 14.

According to a news release, Chenoweth, an Emmy and Tony award winning singer and actress, will perform with an orchestra assembled by maestro Dennis Assaf of the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. The ball will be held at Lakeside Shopping Center.

Chenoweth is a classically trained soprano and has performed at Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall. She is also an actor and has performed as Glinda in the original Broadway cast of “Wicked.” She has been honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star.

Event organizers said there will also be performances by Irma Thomas, Deacon John, The Yat Pack, Rachel Fleetwood, Tom Hook, NOLA Vox and The Victory Belles. The festival stage will conclude with a performance by Sister Sledge.

Cuisine from over 40 restaurants will be offered as well as two martini bars and six libation stations. They will be serving the “Orange Julius,” a “frothy, creamy, orange-flavored beverage from the 70s,” according to Parish officials.

The shopping center will feature four stages, all celebrating the parish’s history.
