Homeless man charged with attempted murder in Jackson County
JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A homeless man has been charged with attempted murder, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter said the incident occurred on May 19 at a home in the St. Andrews community. When deputies arrived around 10:30 p.m., the found the 39-year-old victim unconscious in the backyard.

Witnesses said Austin Manry, 21, of Vancleave, assaulted the victim in an unprovoked attack. Ledbetter said Manry tried to drive away from the scene, but he crash the vehicle. Manry was treated for injuries and transported to the Jackson County Adult Detention Center.

The sheriff said the victim was life flighted to USA Medical Center in Mobile.

Manry has been charged with attempted murder, resisting arrest and simple assault on a law enforcement officer. He is being held without bond until his initial court hearing.
