The first involved a 32-year-old woman who was standing outside her home on Marsden Street near Harrison Avenue. She was shot in the leg after 20 rounds were fired in the neighborhood, according to investigators. At least four bullet holes were found piercing her home, where multiple people were inside. Police said no one else was injured.
Shortly after 11 p.m., officers responded to 911 calls of gunfire at an apartment building at Ogontz Avenue and 71st Street. Police climbed to the third floor to a unit where a 54-year-old man was lying on a mattress suffering from gunshot wounds to his torso, hip, leg, and lower back. The officers carried him down the stairs to an ambulance that took him to Einstein Hospital. At the time of this posting, he was listed in critical condition. Residents told police that there were cameras in the building, but they do not work.
In a third shooting, around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, three men were shot outside a couple of businesses on 59th Street and Market Street. One man was shot in the face, and he was rushed to Penn Presbyterian in critical condition. The other two victims were shot in the back and the leg. They were also treated at the hospital, and their conditions were last listed as “stable.”
This is the same area where a drive-by shooting took place a week prior, when a woman was caught in the middle of the shooting. The same two businesses that were hit by gunfire on May 20 were hit once again by bullets. Police said no one else was injured. There are Philadelphia Police crime cameras as well as cameras on the exterior of multiple businesses in the area. Investigators are using the footage to identify the suspects.
Police are currently searching for the shooters in each of these cases. Detectives have not released in motives in the separate investigations.
