Child found wandering alone on West Side overnight returned home safe: CPD

CHICAGO (WGN) — A child is back home safe on Wednesday morning after they were found wandering alone on the city’s West Side overnight.

According to Chicago police, just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, a witness told officers that they had spotted a child walking along the sidewalk alone in the 600 block of North Laramie Avenue, in Austin.

After responding to the scene, officers located and took custody of the child before taking them to a hospital for observation.

Shortly after picking the child up, officers said they were safely returned home.

Authorities have not provided details on the child’s age but said they were not injured during the incident.
