Shooter sought after Irvine man found dead in vehicle

MCKEE, Ky. (FOX 56) — An Estill County man was found dead in a vehicle Sunday afternoon in Jackson County after being shot.

In a news release Monday afternoon, Kentucky State Police (KSP) said the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office called around 3 p.m. for assistance with an investigation after the man was found on Richardson Road in McKee.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

James Carmack, 40, of Irvine, was shot by someone who fled the scene before authorities arrived, according to KSP.

The identity of the shooter is still unknown at this time, a news release confirmed, and foul play is suspected.

KSP said an autopsy is underway at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.
