William Cameron Leblanc was taken into custody May 15 following a Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Unit investigation prompted by two anonymous complaints. Agents say surveillance confirmed that Leblanc was conducting hand-to-hand drug transactions at the motel.
Search warrants were executed later that day on two rooms occupied and paid for by Leblanc. Agents reported seizing three softball-sized plastic bags containing suspected fentanyl, a small-caliber handgun, narcotics packaging materials, and $3,294 in cash. Leblanc was found in possession of marijuana, a digital scale, and the cash at the time of his arrest, according to RADE.
The suspected fentanyl weighed approximately 1 pound and 9 ounces.
Leblanc was initially booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on multiple charges, including:
Following further investigation, RADE agents secured an additional warrant for one count of distribution of CDS II (Fentanyl). Leblanc was rebooked while still in custody. His bond is set at $271,000.
Agents say the investigation remains ongoing.
The Rapides Area Drug Enforcement Unit is a multi-agency task force involving several local law enforcement departments and district attorneys’ offices throughout Central Louisiana. Authorities urge anyone with information about drug activity to contact the RADE Unit via Facebook at facebook.com/RADEunit.
