Docs: Former Mooresville Christian Academy teacher supplied student with marijuana, Adderall

MOORESVILLE, Ind. — Charges have been filed against a former teacher at Mooresville Christian Academy accused of inappropriately communicating with an underage student.

According to court documents obtained by FOX59/CBS4 Monday afternoon, an arrest warrant has been issued for 44-year-old Jacob Wessel. He faces a preliminary charge of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, which is a Level 5 Felony.

On Jan. 3, 2024, a deputy with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a possible sex offender case after a woman reported that Wessel had allegedly sent an “inappropriate” text to her 13-year-old stepdaughter. Court documents show that another deputy followed up on this case on Jan. 14, 2025.

Authorities soon learned that the alleged victim attended Mooresville Christian Academy and had been texting with Wessel, who taught robotics at the school. The victim stated that she had been texting with Wessell since September 2024.

The woman told police that she shared the text messages with the school’s principal in December of last year. Court documents show that school officials confirmed that they had released Wessel from his position and advised that they were going to file a report with the Indiana Department of Child Services.

The woman claimed that the text messages indicated Wessel had allegedly supplied the victim wth marijuana and that they consumed it together. The messages also appeared to indicate that Wessell had allegedly provided the victim with Adderall before.

Court documents detailed text messages between Wessel and the victim, with the former teacher allegedly saying he and the victim were “in love.” This was followed by other messages in which Wessel claimed he wanted to kiss the victim.

When the victim reportedly pushed back and explained that these messages made her feel “uncomfortable,” Wessel said that he “does not see or put an age on it for his feelings.”

The victim was subsequently interviewed by police on March 24, 2025, where she admitted she was friends with Wessel and his family. She told detectives that she would regularly communicate with Wessel despite him acting “oddly sometimes.”

The victim said their conversations started off discussing “day-to-day” things before they started to become “weirder,” court documents revealed. She also recalled Wessel allegedly rubbing her shoulders or back on one occasion when she was visiting him and his family.

The victim also shared during the interview that Wessel had allegedly supplied her with Adderall while they were both inside the elementary school area of Mooresville Christian Academy. He offered it since the victim reported being stressed out ahead of a test, court documents said. Wessel reportedly told the victim that she couldn’t tell anyone about it.

Court documents show that Wessel allegedly offered the victim marijuana another time while they were inside his residence. The victim admitted that she reportedly consumed the marijuana on one of these instances. The victim confirmed during the interview that she had previously shared this information with the school’s administration.

Court documents show that law enforcement struggled to make contact with Wessel after he reportedly failed to pick up their phone calls and refused to meet with a uniformed deputy who arrived at his home to discuss the allegations.
