Beloit man charged with following too closely in fatal crash

BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — A Monday night crash proved to be fatal for a 58-year-old man in Beloit.

According to the Beloit Police Department, a blue sedan rear-ended a tan sedan, causing it to veer into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by another vehicle in the 1400 block of Madison Road.

The crash occurred around 7:07 p.m., police said.

The driver of the tan sedan was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

The victim has not yet been publicly identified, pending notification of next of kin.

The unnamed driver of the blue sedan, identified only as a 46-year-old Beloit man, was charged with following too closely, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and driving without vehicle registration.

Police said other charges are possible.
