Rockford police arrest suspected drug dealer; raid uncovers 600+ grams of cocaine

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — An investigation conducted in Rockford over the past several weeks has resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker, Nicholas Martinez, Jr.

According to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, police honed in on a residence in the 1900 block of Clifton Avenue as the source of narcotics sales in the area.

On Monday, officers with the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit conducted a search warrant at the residence, reportedly finding over 600 grams of cocaine, over 100 grams of methamphetamine, 4 firearms, and a large amount of cash.

Martinez, 40, was charged with delivery of cocaine, delivery of methamphetamine, armed violence, 3 counts of unlawful use of weapons by a felon, and possession of ammunition without a firearm owner’s identification card.

He was booked into the Winnebago County Jail pending the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.
