A press release from the Kentucky State Police Justice and Public Safety Cabinet said KSP was asked to assist the Grayson Police Department with a call concerning a possible suicidal male.
The release said that when the Grayson officers arrived on the scene, they attempted to initiate contact with the man at his residence on US-60, but he refused to speak with police and then fired several rounds from inside his residence. According to the release, officers immediately secured the scene, and a brief standoff with the man ensued.
GPD then requested the assistance of KSP. Once on the scene, officers were able to talk with the man.
The standoff ended without further incident when the subject exited the residence unarmed, with his hands raised, and he was then taken into custody without injury, the release said. The release said 69-year-old William Huff is being charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree-Police Officer, and the incident remains under investigation.
