(KRON) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on southbound Highway 101 in San Jose Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal crash occurred around 5 a.m. near the Interstate 880 interchange.

All lanes reopened around 7:45 a.m. after one far left lane reopened at 5:48 a.m. Traffic was initially diverted to Oakland Road following the crash.

CHP reported a man jumped from the Oakland Road overpass onto Highway 101 and was struck by at least one vehicle, resulting in his death. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.

The investigation is ongoing, CHP said.
