NJ Transit deal reached: Train service to restart on Tuesday

NEW JERSEY (WPIX/ WPHL) – A tentative deal has been reached after an NJ Transit strike left 350,000 daily commuters scrambling on Friday.

According to officials, train service won’t restart until Tuesday.

NJ Transit’s engineers went on strike at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, calling for better wages.

NJ Transit engineers currently make close to $40 while their LIRR counterparts make nearly $50, and Metro-North workers get $57. It’s not known how much engineers will make now under the new deal.

Commuters still looking to travel to and from New York City on Monday can park and ride the bus at Secaucus Junction, Woodbridge Center Mall, Hamilton Station, and the PNC Bank Arts Center.

The strike is costing NJ Transit $4 million a day, according to officials.
