According to a news release from the county, officials said residents are encouraged to report any residential or structural damage by using the Indiana 211 system. Individuals are able to visit the Indiana 211 website, click on DAMAGE REPORTING and submit a report. Those without internet can also dial 211 or call (866) 211-9966 to make a report.
This comes after Friday’s storm caused low-end EF-2 tornado damage in Monroe County from a supercell thunderstorm that impacted Illinois and south central Indiana. Officials with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said at the time that at least five people were hurt and 85 homes were damaged.
Those with debris from Friday’s storm, including storm-damaged trees and vegetation debris, can take it to the Monroe County Debris Management Site, located at 7740 North Fish Road in Bloomington between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“County officials are working on developing a plan for house debris, household appliances and other debris, as well as a debris site closer to the impacted area,” the release read.
For individuals impacted by the storms, the American Red Cross continues to host a shelter and resource center at the Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, located at 2700 E. Rogers. For the shelter, individuals are asked to enter through door four of the church.
Storm relief supplies are also available for individuals to pick up at the church, including tarps and totes, on the following days:
Friday’s storms also impacted other counties in south central Indiana. According to previous reports, a 33-year-old woman was pronounced dead in Greene County when a tree fell on a vehicle near Linton. In Brown County, several individuals were injured during Friday evening’s storms and one horse and two dogs were killed when the storm went through Horseman’s Campground.
