The Forest Preserves of Cook County confirmed to WGN-TV that the body of 21-year-old Reanna Hammad was found shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday in Spears Woods.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said Hammad had last been seen by her mother at her home at around 11 a.m. Friday, May 16.
Authorities added she may have been in the vicinity of Spears Woods later that same day near the corner of West 87th Street and South LaGrange Road in Palos Township.
At the time she went missing, she was wearing a black sweater, black pants and a black hijab, according to investigators.
Authorities said the Forest Preserves of Cook County are leading the death investigation. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
