By rssfeeds-admin The Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5-2 to recommend approval of the ordinance, which would limit the amount of time an individual can stay at a hotel or motel to 30 days.
The filing gave reason for the ordinance, saying, “Village Staff is concerned about people living in motel rooms in the Village, as their long-term residence. This type of lodging does not comply with residential building codes for permanent housing, and the use does not comply with zoning regulations, as multi-family buildings are not permitted in Commercial zoning districts.”
The ordinance requires at least a 2-day vacancy between stays if a guest occupies a room for more than 30 consecutive days.
Exceptions would be made if the hotel has a contract with a corporate or government organization to house people, or if a guest has been displaced from their permanent residence by natural disaster or fire.
