Intoxicated man drives Jeep into Rock River, rescued by police

BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — Police in Beloit rescued a man who drove his Jeep into the Rock River on Sunday morning.

Authorities said officers responded to the Liberty Avenue and Third Street area around 1:38 a.m. and found the Jeep 40 yards into the river and sinking.

Two officers jumped into the water to save the victim, who was able to break his window as the Jeep became fully submerged.

The unidentified 42-year-old Rockford man was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
